ℹ️ Stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D)
Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) -- A stand-alone drug plan that adds prescription drug coverage to Original Medicare, some Medicare Cost Plans, some Medicare Private-Fee-for-Service Plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account Plans.
ℹ️ Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) and Cost Plans
Medicare Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) — A Medicare Advantage Plan that provides all Original Medicare Part A and Part B health coverage and sometimes covers Part D prescription drug coverage. In most HMOs, you can only get your care from doctors or hospitals in the plan’s network (except in emergencies).
Medicare Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) — A Medicare Advantage Plan that provides all Original Medicare Part A and Part B health coverage and sometimes Part D. In a PPO, you pay less if you use doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers that belong to the plan’s network, and you usually pay more if you use providers outside the network.
Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plan — A Medicare Advantage Plan offered by a private insurance company. The plan determines how much it will pay doctors and hospitals and how much you must pay when you get care. You can go to any Medicare-approved doctor or hospital that accepts the plan’s payment terms and agrees to treat you.
Medicare Special Needs Plan (SNP) — A Medicare Advantage Plan for people with specific diseases or characteristics. SNPs tailor benefits, provider choices, and drug formularies to best meet the specific needs of the groups they serve.
Medicare Cost Plan — A type of plan where, if you get services outside the plan’s network without a referral, your Medicare-covered services are paid for under Original Medicare (rather than the plan).
ℹ️ Dental/Vision/Hearing Products
Dental/Vision/Hearing Products — Plans offering benefits for dental care, vision exams, eyewear, hearing exams, and hearing aids.
ℹ️ Hospital Indemnity Products
Hospital Indemnity Products — Insurance products that pay a fixed amount for each day you are hospitalized.
ℹ️ Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Products
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Products — Policies sold by private insurance companies that help pay some of the healthcare costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
